What is your current stock

It constantly varies, but we rarely have 'spare' stock for immediate delivery. We have to source good used machines (well, suitable for refurbishment, anyway!) at a sensible price. Inevitably a large proportion of these come from gyms and health clubs so we tend to get them in 'batches' rather than as a steady dribble.

Between batches, we build a waiting list of potential customers and then as we get the machines in and refurbish them, offer them to the next person at the top of the list. If that person is not in a position to proceed at that moment or has sourced a machine elsewhere, we offer it to the next person on the waiting list

How long does it take to get delivery

For Model C and D rowers we can arrange delivery on a 'next-day' basis, or at extra charge on a Saturday, or before noon or even before 9am - amongst other options. The machine is packed in a carton and requires minimal assembly on arrival.

Model B rowers do not dismantle easily so we have to use a courier 'man and van' service. To make the cost reasonable we have to negotiate a price and dates on each occasion which will be determined by the courier being able to combine loads going in a similar direction. This generally produces a reasonable price but can mean it takes some days to find a suitable date when the item can be picked up.

Can you summarise the difference between the Model B, C and D

All models of rower will do a very effective job; The performance monitor (PM) technology allows for the friction and resistance variation between machines so if you can do a 'best time' of 2km in 8 minutes on a model B you would do exactly the same on a brand new model E.

The main difference between the B and later models is that it doesn't quickly dismantle into two pieces, like the C, D and E. This means that you need somewhere to store it - whereas the C, D and E can be broken into two and upended and put in a corner.

Other than that the newer models have only minor changes, many of them purely cosmetic. the 'mechanics' inside the C, D and E are almost identical.

The later models also tend to be a little quieter and have newer PMs, but a PM4 can be 'retro-fitted' onto a model B if you want!

Can I try before I buy, or buy then try?

We don't have a showroom or commercial premises as such. If you are collecting your rower by arrangement then of course you can try it! Otherwise we only accept returns in accordance with your statutory rights. We will meet all consumer laws and your legal rights are not
affected by this. We will pay a minimum of 60% of the price you paid, up to 12 months after purchase

Back to FAQ list

Will you buy my rower?

We are always interested in buying rowers, although as you would expect the price we offer is dependant on the condition and the current supply and demand for that model!

We are generally able to quote a price without the need to visit you and see the machine, based on an honest appraisal of the machine. A visit to this page of our site shows some of the more common faults that will affect the value.

Do you service rowers

We will happily service your rower at our premises, but you would be responsible for transportation costs to and from us, which might make it uneconomic.

On our website we will shortly be providing a list of independent rower servicing organisations or individuals who may be able to assist you.

If you have a large number of rowers to be serviced and are within a short distance of us, we would discuss either servicing them in situ or collecting and returning the machines.

We offer two basic service plans:

Basic at £55, where we service the rower but only replace the shock cord and idler pulleys if the existing ones have less than 12 months life.

Superior at £65, where both the shock cord and idler pulleys are replaced irrespective of current condition

In addition to the above, both levels of service will clean and lubricate the machine and advise on any further defects found that require immediate attention or should be looked at in the near future. Such further work is chargeable at £30 per hour plus parts, but we would give a full quotation at the time.

Which monitor can be fitted to which rowers?

The PM3 monitor can be retrofitted to the Model C (or Model B or Model A even!). It needs a slightly different arm to support it which gives it the clearance, when folded back, from the side of the fan casing. There is a simple software reset procedure which 'tells' the PM3 what type of machine it is fitted to.

The PM2 monitor can be fitted to either the Model C or Model B, in the latter case a special bracket is needed

The PM1 monitor can be fitted to the Model B or Model C. A different arm or bracket may be required depending on your current fittings

Do you accept credit cards

We can accept payment by card over the internet but not in person or over the phone. We pass on a surcharge of 2% on credit card purchases, to offset the 3.4% we are charged by the card company

If you pay by bank transfer or by cheque (allowing time to clear) then there is no surcharge

Can I part exchange my existing rower or performance monitor for a better model?

Rowing Machines:
We are always happy to take your old Concept 2 rower in part exchange for a newer model. Please contact us with details and the age and condition of your machine, and which model you wish to upgrade to.

Performance Monitors:
Similarly we get many requests to upgrade to a better monitor. We can supply new PM3 or PM4 monitors at a price equal to that offered by the manufacturers. PM2 monitors are no longer made,so will be used units. Used PM3 monitors are quite rare and if you are seeking one of these a significant delay may be incurred. We have yet to see a used PM4 monitor offered to us!

If I go on a waiting list does that commit me to buy. Do I have to pay a deposit

When you use our contact form you automatically get added to the wait list based on the date and time when you send it. You are under no obligation to buy, when we subsequently contact you to say a machine is available. We do not take deposits. All we ask is that once offered a rower, you make a prompt decision so we can offer it to the next person on the list if you don't want it.

Back to FAQ list

If it is inconvenient when you offer me a rower do I lose my place on the list?

If you don't want or cant accept a rower when we offer it, we give you the opportunity to slip down the list, so that we can re-offer you a a different machine a few weeks later.

How big and heavy is a rower. Will it spilt into two?

The Model C (and newer) all separate quickly into two parts. (They don't actually 'fold', but its 10 seconds to assemble and disassemble it and then it stands on end in two pieces). Total weight is 28kg of which the heaviest part is probably about 18kg and 1.4m long .  The model B is in a single piece and weights about 30kg and is about 2.4m long.

Back to FAQ list

Does the rower come with a manual.

User and maintenance manuals and other helpful documents are all included on a CD which we supply with each machine.
